Under the HKMU Startup Fund launched last year, the Angel Fund Programme selected its first batch of five high-potential startups and offered each an investment of up to HK$1 million to develop their businesses further. The startups span fields such as smart healthcare, artificial intelligence, data analytics and sustainable development.

Out of 200 places allocated to the self-financing sector across 37 programmes under this newly established Government scheme, HKMU secured 98 places for 22 programmes, coming first among its peers.

Following the release of the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education results, applications for HKMU programmes listed as the top three choices (Band A) have increased by 21% compared to last year. This surge highlights the University's growing popularity and recognition driven by its professional and practical programmes.

This year's Summer Congregation conferred nearly 2,100 bachelor’s degrees and over 1,000 postgraduate degrees and other academic qualifications on graduates.

Under the theme “Spectrum”, the exhibition showcased over 100 outstanding works by graduating creative arts students, featuring areas such as microfilms, animations, advertising, installation art, virtual reality (VR) games and interactive entertainment.

Visits to mainland China to strengthen educational collaboration
|
On 24–25 Jun, HKMU senior management joined a delegation of the Alliance of Universities of Applied Sciences to Guangzhou and Shenzhen to foster collaboration between the Alliance and leading polytechnic universities in the region. On 7–9 Jul, an HKMU delegation visited Beijing, where they met with representatives from the Ministry of Education, the Higher Education Press and local universities.

In the expo, HKMU presented its innovative artificial intelligence (AI)-powered teaching tools and delivered talks and seminars to showcase the University's achievements in advancing AI technology, integrating educational technology into teaching and promoting whole-person education.

In collaboration with Heep Hong Society, the School of Education and Languages co-hosted a seminar to explore the challenges and opportunities towards inclusive early childhood education, and foster cross-regional exchange and collaboration in support of young children with special educational needs.

Co-organised by the School of Education and Languages and the Hong Kong Association for Mathematics Education, the conference brought over 240 educators from local and overseas tertiary institutions, secondary and primary schools, and kindergartens to share their dedication to driving innovation and excellence in mathematics teaching and learning.

The HKMU Chamber Orchestra composed of the University's students was officially launched and presented its inaugural Annual Showcase on 27 Jun. The concert featured a range of classical pieces, showcasing the members' artistic talent and sharing their musical achievements with the HKMU community.

To examine the impact of living conditions on children's development, the Public and Social Policy Research Centre of the School of Arts and Social Sciences partnered with the Society for Community Organization to conduct a longitudinal study. It found that 40% of children in subdivided units report a lack of space for study and play, leading to higher levels of depression and anxiety.
