The opening of the Institute marks a major milestone in HKMU’s development, fostering the commercialisation of the University’s research outcomes in the Greater Bay Area (GBA). The Institute has launched 12 research projects, spanning biomedical and life sciences, environmental technologies, quantum technology, and digital fabrication and art tech.

HKMU has become the city’s first self‑financing university to enter the QS World University Rankings by Subject. Six subjects were ranked, three of which made it to the world’s top 150: Art & Design, Performing Arts, and Hospitality & Leisure Management.

Themed “Run Ahead, See Beyond”, this year’s Foundation Dinner welcomed more than 500 distinguished guests from government, business, academia and philanthropy, with a richly curated programme. All funds raised will support the University’s sports and cultural development initiatives.

In the first “Talk of Metropolis” this year, Dr Lam, Executive Council Member and Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Mental Health, called for strengthening mental health education and building tiered support from campus to workplace.

Under the theme “As Long as It Lasts”, the concert featured 19 original Cantonese song lyrics that told heartfelt stories about people, relationships and places. Hosted by the School of Arts and Social Science and Prof. Chow Yiu-fai, renowned lyricist who taught the class, the concert drew an audience of over 300.

HKMU’s School of Business and Administration has partnered with the CFA Institute to nurture talent for the fast-growing sustainable finance sector. Under this collaboration, HKMU is the first university in Hong Kong to embed the globally recognised Sustainable Investing Certificate curriculum into its regular undergraduate programmes.

HKMU signed a Collaboration Agreement with the Spanish professional football league LALIGA to provide students in its new Master of Professional Management in Global Sports Business with an overseas immersion experience in Spain, fostering sports talent development and providing international exposure for HKMU students.
|
|
|
The University received the Elite Award at the Hong Kong Institute of Human Resource Management HR Excellence Awards 2025/2026. HKMU, the only higher education institution among the awardees, was recognised for successfully implementing its Graduate Trainee Programme.
|
|
This year’s career fair attracted nearly 130 organisations from 30 industries, offering over 2,700 job vacancies and internship opportunities to support students in their career planning and workplace preparation.
