Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU) hosted the Mainland Alumni Dinner in Guangzhou for the first time on 8 May. The dinner attracted approximately 180 guests, including Mainland and HKSAR government officials, institutional partners and Mainland alumni. The University shared the latest development blueprint and introduced the ongoing Alumni Donation Matching Scheme - “Turn $1 to $3” Campaign, aiming to support alumni joining local and Mainland outreach activities and strengthen ties between alumni.

Apart from nominations in Annecy International Animation Film Festival, Another World took home multiple honours, such as the Golden Horse Award for Best Animated Feature. Hilary Tang Yin-ting, a 2020 HKMU graduate in Bachelor of Fine Arts with Honours in Animation and Visual Effects, participated as a key animator in the blockbuster. She confessed that she was gobsmacked by the stunning movie performance. Looking back on the creation journey, Hilary admitted it was tough, but in a good way, showing her absolute devotion to the project. “Yes, I felt tired, but the challenges of animation work anchored my steps to keep going.”

The Screening and Sharing Session of “Another World” was successfully held on 31 January 2026 (Saturday). The event featured our outstanding alumna and the film’s key animator, Miss Hilary Tang, who shared her filmmaking journey with guests, alumni, students, and staff members of HKMU.

Co-organised by DAAO and HKMU Alumni Association, HKMU Alumni Movie Day was successfully held on 14 March 2026 (Saturday). Over a hundred alumni, along with their friends and family, enjoyed the new animated blockbuster from Disney and Pixar — Hoppers.
